Claire’s experience of family law began in pupillage with Kate Buckingham. Since this time she has regularly appeared in the family courts across the region in private and public law cases. She has represented a variety of different Local Authorities, lay parties and Children’s Guardians in an assortment of different proceedings ranging from fact finding hearings to Placement Order applications.
As a specialist family practitioner, Claire is often briefed to act in the more serious cases and has recently appeared in a number of proceedings involving extremely serious injuries to children. Equally, she is frequently called upon to act in the more intractable private law disputes challenging psychological evidence and dealing with the involvement of social services.
In addition to her work in the family courts, Claire is developing a practice in the sphere of the Court of Protection and is happy to assist and advise in relation to those proceedings. Claire has also recently been asked to advise on a number of cases involving challenges to the decision-making of Local Authorities by way of judicial review, civil actions in negligence and/or actions taken under the Human Rights Act.
