Career:

Prior to joining Sovereign Chambers had a varied commercial career mostly within large national and international corporations including some time in the pharmaceutical industry.
Pupillage followed by tenancy at Sovereign Chambers.

Catherine has had a long standing interest in health and safety matters and has both prosecuted and defended such matters.

Having a primarily civil law background has enabled Catherine to apply an innovative and unusual approach on behalf of prosecuting agencies in that she has been successful in obtaining civil injunctions against persistent offenders in addition to the usual remedies being available under health and safety legislation.

Catherine has a special interest in inquests having been instructed by Railtrack plc to attend the Selby train crash inquest on their behalf and has conducted other lengthy and high profile inquests.

Catherine can undertake disciplinary proceedings for the medical and legal professions herself having a very good working medical knowledge.
