David has been recommended within Chambers and Partners legal directory for another consecutive year. In early editions it was said that he is "a very experienced counsel, who is good with vulnerable clients and witnesses, and is extremely skilled at analysing documentary evidence."  Chambers and Partners 2010.

David’s practice has always been criminal law based both prosecution and defence.

He spends the vast majority of my time in the Crown Court dealing with pleas, trials and sentencing hearings. He has appeared in the Administrative Court and Court of Appeal on a number of occasions. Occasionally he is also instructed to appear in the Magistrates Court to deal with challenging and complex matters from first to last.

He is a grade 4 Prosecutor for the CPS and regularly appears in serious sex and violent offences as well as a number of fraud and similar matters of complexity. He is on the Attorney General’s list of nominated counsel to undertake work for HM Revenue and Customs, the Department of Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, the Department of Works and Pensions etc. He has built up a degree of expertise in HM Revenue and Customs cases in particular in this regard.
David is well respected by a number of different defence firms to deal with cases of all levels, ranging from murder, rape, indecent assault, section 18, violent disorder and commercial drug supply, to the more routine dishonesty, drugs, violence and public order offences. In recent times he has been involved in a number of conspiracy cases, including internet frauds, money laundering, wholesale drug supply and violent offences to name a few.

David’s recent matters include: R v Zhang (cannabis factory murder/money laundering) R v Connors (nationwide conspiracy to burgle), Op Savanna (complex fuel laundering fraud conspiracy), R v NS (international waste shipment), R v Epton (FSA/ponzi fraud offences), R v Beestin (child cruelty), R v Cerskus (s.18 – torture/sadistic attack); R v Ahmed (gang rape), R v Y.P. Ltd (food standards breaches), R v Hoang (e-bay internet fraud conspiracy), R v Wisniewska (assisting offender re murder), R v Hale (young Defendant with escalating sexual offences), R v Davey (firearm thefts), R v Randall (s18 shooting conspiracy).

David has over recent times been advising a number of companies about their rights to privately prosecute. Further details are available if required, in particular about the cost elements of the same.

David is able to accept “direct access” instructions in a limited number of cases.
