Career:

Simon Clegg acts on behalf of Defendant Insurers in cases where fraud is alleged as well as in suspicious cases where a robust defence is required. His involvement in such cases reaches from pre-issue advice, drafting pleadings, interim applications and appearance at trial.

He has a range of experience in assessing and advising on the strength of individual cases encompassing low velocity impact issues, engineering evidence, credit hire and exaggeration and is happy to provide pre-action advice and conferences.

Simon also provides training in the form of seminars and lectures to law firms across the country including:

Recent notable cases:

Saleem v Usman and Chartis Insurance – three day fraud trial at Bradford County Court. The collision was found to have been staged and judgment was given in favour of Chartis. The First Defendant’s claims management company has now been shut down by the Ministry of Justice.

Asghar & Ahmed v Hussain – bogus passenger case where the claims of both claimants were dismissed.

Ahmed v Laindon Holdings – acting for the defendant in a multi-track liability dispute with both sides called bona fide independent witnesses, encompassing sizeable credit claim. The claim was dismissed.
