David has specialised for many years in serious crime, both prosecuting and defending in many high profile cases of murder (both as Junior and Leading Junior), manslaughter and GBH, rape and other serious sexual assaults including historic sexual abuse of adults and children, Class A and B drug conspiracy, and high value fraud and deception.
David was a Grade 4 Crown Prosecutor for in excess of 15 years and is now included on the CPS Advocate Panel for general crime at level 4 and in on the CPS Advocate Panel rape list.
David was appointed as an Assistant Recorder in 1998 and as a Recorder in 2000, and sits regularly in the Crown and County Courts throughout the North Eastern Circuit in Crime, Civil and Private Family Law.

R v Dockerty – successful prosecution of high school maths teacher in relation to rape and other sexual offences
R v Gormally - successful prosecution of man for attempted murder of stranger while he slept
R v Khrbish – successful prosecution of man for attempted murder of a baby by strangulation and choking
R v Khan and others – leading junior in successful prosecution of group of men for conspiracy to commit arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, an attempted insurance fraud
R v Gresham – successful defence of young man with severe mental impairment due to head injury charged with supply of Class A drugs
R v Davey and others – leading junior in successful prosecution of group of men in relation to conspiracy to supply class A drugs
R v Fitzpatrick – leading junior in successful prosecution of woman for murder of her former boyfriend
R v Strickland and Capuvanno – successful prosecution for mortgage fraud
