Robert practices predominantly in criminal law, acting for both the prosecution and defence in all areas. Some of his notable cases include:

- R. v Vickers and others   Large scale conspiracy to steal from HGVs.
- R. v Wali and others  11 defendants charged with s.18 assault and violent disorder.
- R. v Barker and others  10 defendants charged with a £2 million MOT fraud.
- R. v Hodgson and others  Film, music and video game piracy; the overall fraud being worth over £4 million to the media industry.
- R. v Hutton    Court of Appeal sentencing; indecent/sexual assault.
- R. v Soar    Court of Appeal (reported case) sentencing; 2 counts of arson at his home.
- R. v Houghton-Brown  High Court, case stated appeal; possession of a firearm in a public place.
- R. v Hafiz and others  Conspiracy to commit arson in which 5 defendants conspired together to burn down a taxi office for insurance purposes; their hired arsonist died in the fire.

As one of the Attorney General’s approved counsel, Robert regularly prosecutes benefit fraud cases on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions and importation cases for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.  Recent cases have included large scale importations of heroin, cannabis and cigarettes.

He has conducted numerous appeals against both sentence and conviction at the Court of Appeal and has also appeared in the High Court in case stated appeals.

Robert is registered with the Football Association as one of their Registered Lawyers, which permits him to act on behalf of clubs or players in contract negotiations, and he has an excellent understanding of all rules and regulations issued by FIFA and the Football Association.  As a former semi-professional footballer himself, this area of law is of particular interest to Robert.

Robert has a good knowledge of prison law and often appears on behalf of prisoners at adjudications and parole hearings.

He also conducts appeals (and provides advice upon appeals) against Licensing Committee decisions.
