Working as part of Sovereign Chamber’s specialist Civil Fraud Team, Roger acts particularly for insurer backed Defendants, where allegations or imputations of fraud arise, such as alleged fraud rings, phantom passengers, low speed impact, credit hire and exaggeration.  Roger’s expertise covers road traffic accidents, insurance fraud and other areas such as in the employment setting. He can lend his expertise in Landlord and Tenant Law to the area of personal injury of occupants and tenants.

Examples of Roger’s fraud defence practice include:

• Represented defendants in three separate trials, which featured various links between the parties in two alleged road traffic accidents. The claims of all four claimants in the three trials were dismissed. In one of the trials, a substantial credit hire claim was discontinued prior to submissions, as a result of Roger’s cross examination of the claimant.

• Obtained judgment for contribution / indemnity / costs against fifteen parties in one trial.

• Obtained costs against a claimant whose exaggeration resulted in the wrong Track allocation.

• Defeated an exaggerated holiday insurance claim on behalf of the insurer.

Roger prides himself in drafting easily read, but complex defences and applications concerning allegations or imputations of fraud; joinder of parties; amendment, pleading statutes; subrogated claims; Part 18 Questions and Replies.
Roger claims expertise in contested disclosure, costs and strike out hearings in a fraud setting. 

Roger is qualified to accept instructions directly from the public (Bar Public Access).

Roger has delivered seminars and published work in leading journals on topics such as fraudulent exaggeration and costs.
