Profile:

Whilst in Toronto Toni was involved in the litigation of two major Canadian Class Actions and the prosecution of a large Tax Evasion case, which involved a number of legal submissions under the Charter of Rights and Freedom.

Toni’s first six months of pupillage was predominantly Crime based. In her second six months of pupilage and since obtaining tenancy Toni has built up a substantial practice in this area.

Toni undertakes a wide variety of Criminal Work, both Prosecution and Defence, in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth Courts. Her Prosecution work involves appearances for the CPS as well as providing representation and advice to government agencies, such as Department of Work and Pensions and the Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office. Toni has experience of defending and prosecuting a wide range of hearings and trials involving drugs, (domestic) violence, theft and kindred offences and sexual offences. Toni undertakes privately and publicly funded work and has significant experience in defending privately paid road traffic cases. Toni’s recent cases have included a large scale theft from employer, perverting the course of justice, and major breaches of Fire Safety Regulations. Toni also recently successfully defended in a drive without due care trial, which involved a fatality.
