David has practicsed as a Barrister and Solicitor for over 30 years. Throughout this time he has had a busy mixed common law practice including Criminal, Family and Civil work. He currently specialises as an Advocate in serious criminal cases but continues to engage in a significant volume of private and public law children work in the family field for parents and related parties. He has recently acted as sole advocate for one of the parties in both the high profile criminal and care proceedings arising out of a local kidnap investigation which attracted national multi media coverage and has a clear understanding of issues affecting the cross over between the criminal and family jurisdictions.
Since returning to the Bar last December David has continued to undertake an increasing volume of difficult private and public law children work in all courts. On 3 occasions over this period he has succeeded in contested hearings for parents against the position adopted by the Local Authority and supported by the Guardian. He has extended the scope of the work he undertakes in this field to include representation on behalf of Local Authorities.
