Caroline is a specialist personal injury practitioner and has practised exclusively in personal injury and related areas, such as CICA appeals, since 1997. She has a mixed practice of claimant and defendant personal injury instructions . She has extensive experience of employers liability, public liability and road traffic litigation, including an interest in MIB claims and road traffic accidents occurring abroad.
She is experienced at evaluating medical evidence and drafting schedules of loss and counterschedules in high value claims, such as chronic pain, involving future loss of earnings. She has recently represented a claimant in the CICA who suffered a subdural haematoma resulting in moderate brain damage and right sided hemiplegia following an assault. In respect of clinical negligence she is instructed by solicitors retained by a private hospital to defend claims brought by patients making allegations of negligent plastic surgery.
Solicitors have commented on her thorough approach to case preparation. She also happy to take queries informally over the telephone.
She regularly provides seminars to instructing solicitors and is the Personal Injury Professional Skills Course trainer for Kaplan Altior.
Recent Cases
Caroline represented a private hospital in a claim alleging negligent gastric band surgery. Following representations at the CMC that the hospital were not a correct defendant, the District Judge gave directions between the claimant and the operating surgeon only, leaving the claim against the hospital in abeyance. The claimant discontinued her claim against the hospital shortly thereafter.
