Stuart joined Sovereign Chambers as Civil and Family Clerk, and whilst gaining invaluable first-hand experience of life at the Bar, committed his evenings and weekends to study part-time whilst continuing to work full time as a Clerk, in order to realise his goal of becoming a Barrister.
Stuart acts on behalf of Defendant Insurers in cases where fraud is alleged and receives instructions in other suspicious cases where a robust defence is required.
He is instructed in such cases from pre-issue advice, conferences with clients, drafting pleadings, interlocutory hearings and has attended many complex fraud trials with fellow senior members of the Civil Fraud team.
Stuart is the only member of Chambers to have undertaken an exclusively Civil Fraud Pupillage, under the supervision of Judy Dawson and Richard Paige.
He has a significant paper practice and is regularly instructed to produce advices in relation to both liability and quantum, in addition to drafting pleadings.
