Sovereign Chambers has an excellent reputation for defence work within the insurance fraud industry. As industry-wide awareness of the extent of fraudulent claims has grown in recent years, and as insurers have developed a determination to fight the same, so has the Sovereign Chambers fraud team grown in number and experience. Many members of the team have been practising in this area of the law for 5 years or more and were instrumental in raising local Judicial awareness as to the dishonest extent to which some people will go to recover even modest sums in damages.

Fraud work currently forms all or the greater part of the practises of several members of the fraud team and all members of the team are briefed in the same on a very regular basis. The depth and breadth of fraud work experience within Chambers is second to none and Chambers maintains a position as a leading set in this area of the law.

Members of the fraud team have extensive experience working on fraud-ring cases and have been involved in numerous cases associated with fraud networks in notorious local areas such as Bradford and Keighley as well as others across the country.

The extent of the fraud team’s contacts within defence insurance fraud departments is such that members are aware of developments within the industry as they happen, including changes in trends relating to the way in which false claims are presented by fraudsters.

Team members provide pre-litigation advisory services, have an outstanding reputation for drafting work, regularly undertake client/expert conferences and present cases at trial. The team also regularly lectures to solicitors and insurers alike.

Fraudulent insurance claims have become endemic within society. With the economic forecast looking bleak, it is likely that this problem will get worse in the years to come. Sovereign Chambers is very well placed to assist the insurance industry, and their solicitors, in maintaining a strong stance against this ongoing problem which affects us all via our own insurance premiums.
