Sovereign Chambers has a well-respected and experienced criminal team and has strength in numbers from the most senior practitioners, to talented and able juniors. They deal with offences from murder and serious violence, sexual misconduct, public disorder, dishonesty, fraud, drugs, road traffic and the like to the more unusual offences dealt with by the specialist prosecuting agencies.

The criminal team includes specialists in all aspects of criminal law, including historic sexual offences, large scale conspiracies, extensive frauds, technical road traffic matters and the ever more complicated area of sentencing.  A number of members also have particular expertise in asset forfeiture, confiscation, cash detention and restraint issues. Our general criminal team is complemented by specialist teams in Financial Crime, Prison Law and Regulatory & Disciplinary Law. Members of the team are well used to working with each other on serious cases to provide a further aspect to the quality service provided.

We provide a full range of advocacy and advisory services from pre-charge advice through to appeal, enforcement and post –sentence issues. As a result we are often instructed to provide the “cradle to the grave” guidance required by the prosecution and the defence. 

As well as regularly appearing in Courts across the whole country, the team provide lectures and other guidance upon recent changes in criminal law and can provide tailored training on any other issues that may be of assistance to solicitors' firms and prosecuting authorities.
